Geniuses have a sense of urgency. Chopin died from TB at 39. Born in 1810, he touched the piano for the first time at home. He tried playing under the guidance of Ludwika, his sister, and at six began regular lessons with a private teacher, Czech immigrant Wojciech Żywny (Cz. Vojtěch Živný).
In 1823, at 13, Chopin attended Warsaw Lyceum, where his father taught. In the autumn of 1826, Chopin began studying music theory at Warsaw Conservatory and later moved to Paris. There he taught piano and preferred playing in private homes.
