Henry Essex Edgeworth (1745-1807), Edgeworthstown, County Longford, Ireland, son of Robert Edgeworth, Church of Ireland. His father converted and emigrated to Toulouse, France, where the boy was brought up by the Jesuits. After his father's death, he went to Paris for study and devoted himself to the Irish and English Catholics. On the scaffold, he said, “Sire, in this new outrage I see only the last trait of resemblance between your Majesty and the God who will be your reward.”

The Commonitorium or Commonitory is a 5th-century Catholic treatise written under the pseudonym “Peregrinus” and attributed to Vincent of Lérins. It is known for Vincent’s famous maxim: "Moreover, in the Catholic Church itself, all possible care must be taken, that we hold that faith which has been believed everywhere, always, by all.” Vincent wrote the Commonitory c. 434 and died c. 445. This is the best treatise I have ever read. https://www.newadvent.org/fathers/3506.htm

The Children of the Catholic Church ought to adhere to the Faith of their Fathers and die for it. Source. Translated by C.A. Heurtley. From Nicene and Post-Nicene Fathers, Second Series, Vol. 11. Edited by Philip Schaff and Henry Wace. (Buffalo, NY: Christian Literature Publishing Co., 1894.) Revised and edited for New Advent by Kevin Knight. <http://www.newadvent.org/fathers/3506.htm>. He also speaks of “cancelled” priests. Chapter 4. [11.] “... wives were violated, widows ravished, virgins profaned, monasteries demolished, clergymen ejected, the inferior clergy scourged, priests driven into exile, jails, prisons, mines, filled with saints, of whom the greater part, forbidden to enter into cities, thrust forth from their homes to wander in deserts and caves, among rocks and the haunts of wild beasts, exposed to nakedness, hunger, thirst, were worn out and consumed. Of all of which was there any other cause than that, while human superstitions are being brought in to supplant heavenly doctrine, while well-established antiquity is being subverted by wicked novelty, while the institutions of former ages are being set at naught, while the decrees of our fathers are being rescinded, while the determinations of our ancestors are being torn in pieces, the lust of profane and novel curiosity refuses to restrict itself within the most chaste limits of hallowed and uncorrupt antiquity?” Chapter 5. [12.] “But it may be, we invent these charges out of hatred to novelty and zeal for antiquity. Whoever is disposed to listen to such an insinuation, let him at least believe the blessed Ambrose, who, deploring the acerbity of the time, says, in the second book of his work addressed to the Emperor Gratian: Enough now, O God Almighty! Have we expiated with our own ruin, with our own blood, the slaughter of Confessors, the banishment of priests, and the wickedness of such extreme impiety. It is clear, beyond question, that they who have violated the faith cannot remain in safety.” Vincent quoted Pope Stephen’s epistle sent to Africa: “Let there be no innovation — nothing but what has been handed down.” This is a commentary on Jesuit F, F for failed pope. 1971
The first time I ever saw Feinstein was 1971 when she was running for the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. I was in the audience for her campaign speech. I noticed that she did not connect with the audience. There was a distant look on her face and in her eyes, and I said to myself, “This woman will never succeed.” How wrong I was. 1997 The first time I ever saw Gavin Newsom was 1997 when he was running for the same office, and I knew on site that he was an oily operator – his hair and his teeth. How right I was. I am surprised that many people have no powers of observation. I guess ideology blinds them, or they will profit by politicians who grease each other’s dirty palms. Alternatives: think founding fathers and mothers and the people who were part of the westward expansion. The first three minutes have English subtitles. [refrain - r] Anima Christi, sanctifica me. “Dieresis” [di-ER-əs-əs] is a two-dot mark over a diphthong. A diphthong is a sound formed by the combination of two vowels in a single syllable, in which the sound begins as one vowel and moves toward another, as in coin, loud, and side. An example is naïve. A dieresis is the reason the word “naïve” is pronounced as two syllables. Without the dieresis, it might be a homonym with “knave”, and he is unscrupulous! The word comes directly from both the Latin diæresis and the nearly identical Greek “διαίρεσις”, meaning “division” or “split”. When a key is pressed, it sends its associated hammer into motion, and the padded hammer hits a string. If the string is long and thick, the pitch is low; the key is on the left end of the piano. If the string is thin and short, the pitch is high; the key is on the right end of the piano. After striking the string, the hammer rebounds and returns to its original position. The piano is deemed both a percussion instrument because of hammers and a stringed instrument because of strings. Eighty-eight keys. When you hear the phrase, “rational number”, don’t be frightened. Look at the root, rational. [Latin comes in handy.] Thus, a rational number can be written as a ratio, or fraction, which is the same thing: ½. Think of ratio this way: the quantitative relation between two amounts showing the number of times one value contains or is contained within the other. One is a rational number: it can be written as 1/1.
Example: the ratio of dogs to cats is 1 to 2. There is one dog contained in every two cats. Well, in English, we say, “one dog for every two cats”. In Massachusetts, there are 1.6 million cats to 850,000 dogs. The ratio is 1,600,000/850,000, which is 160/85. Just cross out the four zeros on top and the four zeros on the bottom. Use the calculator and the result is in decimal form: 1.88 ferocious felines, almost two, for every friendly Fido. Figures rounded. These numbers are rational numbers. The owners, however, might be irrational. Scotus will hear a key affirmative action case, report dated August 12, 2022, by Robert Ayers
“Fox News reports that the justices of the U.S. Supreme Court have decided to hear a case that could lead to the end of affirmative action admissions practices by universities. “The case is Students for Fair Admissions Inc. (SFFA) v. President & Fellows of Harvard College. “This case goes all the way back to 2014. At the time, SFFA sued Harvard for violating Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, which ‘prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin in any program or activity that receives Federal funds or other Federal financial assistance.’ “The overarching claim is that Harvard made it more difficult for Asian Americans to be admitted because they did not want their student body to have too many Asian Americans.” https://www.patriotnewsalerts.com/scotus-will-hear-a-key-affirmative-action-case/ I hope the U.S. Supreme Court rules in favor of the plaintiff, SFFA. George Orwell (1903-1950) wrote 1984.
“In his essay ‘Politics and the English Language’ (1946), Orwell wrote about the importance of precise and clear language, arguing that vague writing can be used as a powerful tool of political manipulation because it shapes the way we think. In that essay, Orwell provides six rules for writers:
From Wikipedia. I am not endorsing TabletClass. My aim is to let the TabletClass creator show how a homeschooling program for middle and high school math works. I view his math videos as needed and use a variety of other resources for tutoring. Over time I developed a reading and writing course, but it is not on the market. The TabletClass creator is a certified teacher; I am a certified tutor: same grade levels. Have a listen... benefits (spelling correction) 😉
Hunter Biden starred. One of my students loves Horrible Histories, the books!
Le grand docteur sophiste, 1886 illustration, Gargantua, Albert Robida, expressing mockery of a casuist education I said I would no longer comment on F. Now I’m going to because developments are accumulating. The man has no leadership abilities. He runs the Church as if it were a big experiment. This a leader cannot do. Either he is allowing radical intellectuals to reign over him, or he is with them. His words are Jesuit casuistry, too clever for anyone to know which it is. His first task is to preserve the deposit of faith. His second task is to keep order. These tasks he has utterly failed to accomplish. Signs have popped up everywhere: Germany, Canada, USA, France, Italy, China. I have written about each country or placed on my website the analysis done by other faithful Catholics. I have quoted popes before him, and what they have said against modernism. The destruction of the Latin Mass and Latin Mass lay and religious communities symbolizes all that he is doing, but he and his advisors underestimate the numbers of Catholics who are now properly schooled in history. Here is another painting by Lawrence Alma-Tadema I just had to post, it is so incredible, as are the story behind it and his biography. Because Alma-Tadema was painting this picture during the winter, he arranged to have roses sent weekly from the French Riviera for four months to ensure the accuracy of each petal. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lawrence_Alma-Tadema#Personality The Roses of Heliogabalus (1888) Roman emperor from AD218 to 222
The painting is in the collection of Juan Antonio Pérez Simón of Mexico. Helio must have said, "It's a warm day. Let's have a picnic." Raymond Arroyo says that the IRS, to grow by 87,000 agents under the current creepy crawler, with a stockpile of 5 million rounds and 5,000 weapons, is the new Praetorian Guard. The Praetorian Guard was a unit of the Roman army serving as personal bodyguards and intelligence agents for the Roman emperors. New math? I dunno. I try to work with easy numbers, like 200 and 25. Check the answer: 25 X 25 = 625. Where did the 400 come from? I just wanted to reduce the number to something workable. Otherwise, one can do the guessing game, but what if the number is really big?
