Who are the stoics?

11/30/2024

See the show notes for resources.

I like the art of living espoused by the stoics, not their ideas about religion.

1) Catholic metaphysics and theology have an intimate relationship, with each benefiting from the other.

2) Divination 20 Idolatry, witchcrafts, enmities, contentions, emulations, wraths, quarrels, dissensions, sects, 21 Envies, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like. Of the which I foretell you, as I have foretold to you, that they who do such things shall not obtain the kingdom of God. (Confession and penance remedy that.)

Spinoza was a secular Jew. Freemasons claim esoteric knowledge, falsely.

The Church's List of Heresies
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_heresies_in_the_Catholic_Church

St. Justin Martyr, a Church Father, taught that those who lived according to the logos are Catholic, though they might not know about Jesus Christ. (the Virtuous Pagan)

Sts. Clement of Alexandria and Athanasius, Origen, and Tertullian held that Christ had descended into Hades to deliver the Good News, declaring that "Jesus delivered from Hell both Jews and Gentiles who accepted the gospel and that postmortem evangelism continues even today".

St. Augustine: the unevangelized are condemned to Hell.

St. Thomas Aquinas: those "brought up in the forest or among wolves" are sent "the gospel message through miraculous means".

What can I say? I like smiling Tommy. He wrote
Adoro te devote, and an estimated eight million words. He had four devoted secretaries, and that's why you see lots of fours. At the bottom are four Dominicans with St. Dominic out in front. Tommy was a Dominican.

Bugle battle: in addition to the Organo Mayor and Organo Respaldo, the organ has a Cadereta division located deep inside the base of the organ case and capable of creating another kind of echo, reminiscent of a redoubt, which is a supplementary fortification, typically square or polygonal, and without flanking defenses. The cadence is march, bivouac, march. Do we have any Latin Mass churches in California with an organ like this one? No, we've been routed.

The Altar Boy

Baltimore Catechism 3, Lesson 27, The Latin Mass

Richard, an altar boy, and his twin brother Anthony, go to the children’s Mass. Richard serves Mass; Anthony kneels in the first pew. Supposing their fervor is the same, and all other considerations being equal, how do they share in the fruits of the Mass? Does one get more than the other, or do they get the same amount? Explain the answer.

The more actively and intimately a person participates in the offering of the Mass, the greater benefits will he derive. Thus, a boy who serves Mass or a person who sings in the choir will partake more abundantly of the fruits of the Holy Sacrifice, other things being equal, than one who merely assists as a member of the congregation.

We have 100+. The degrees to which he has been transformed and what he does with the benefits are up to him.

conversion

Converting between miles and kilometers?

It can be done if you know the Fibonacci sequence.

You might know this, or not:
The ratio of successive Fibonacci terms F (subscript n + 1)/F (subscript n) tends to the golden mean. ϕ ≈ 1.618

This happens quickly:
3/2 = 1.5
5/3 = 1.667
8/5 = 1.6

It is about 1.61 kilometers per mile.

So, knowing the first few terms of the sequence, converting from kilometers to miles is a snap: go to the adjacent Fibonacci number. If you’re converting kilometers to miles, go down; if you’re converting miles to kilometers go up.

For example, what is 50 miles in kilometers?

Maybe you don’t know the Fibonacci sequence up to F₁₀ = 55, but you could write 50 = 5×10, and 5 is a Fibonacci number.

So, this method estimates 80 kilometers.

How Do I Love Thee

Sonnet XLIII (43)
How Do I Love Thee?
By Elizabeth Barrett Browning

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of being and ideal grace.
I love thee to the level of every day’s
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for right.
I love thee purely, as they turn from praise.
I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood’s faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints. I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life; and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

Francis, failure

11/28/2024

Every single person I have spoken to at my Latin Mass parish has a family member or members who are not practicing the faith, which jeopardizes their souls. There are approximately 5,600 bishops and 408,000 priests in the world. Francis sits on his fat fanny and does nothing but write documents, meet with crooked world leaders, and pose for pictures.

He does not order every bishop to order every priest to help us. The laity do not have the power a priest has. He can bring lapsed Catholics the sacraments, beginning with confession. I'm not saying there would be 100% success, or even 50%, or even 10%, but there would be some success. For this reason alone, Francis embodies unconditional surrender.

Read Mark 12, 1-10, the parable of the vineyard. Christ is speaking of Himself and of those who are expected to persevere like Him.

It is there that you will find the online Douay-Rheims (A.D. 1572/1609), the Latin Vulgate Bible translated into English, making it the first English Bible, Summa (Aquinas), and Baltimore Catechism 3. The 1962 Latin Missal incorporates the Douay-Rheims, all that is needed aside from the classics.

Absinthe is a licorice spirit made from wormwood oil and other herbs. Its color is usually pale green. The name derives from the Latin absinthium, from the Greek apsínthion, meaning "wormwood." It can cause hallucinations and did for Poe and van Gogh. The better choice would be Anisette Liqueur straight up.

Francis in the red

His Vatican is facing financial collapse. This might bring him down.

Vigano and Pell audited the finances and found theft and corruption. Vigano was excommunicated, and Pell, deceased, spent almost two years in solitary confinement in Australia before the false charges were overturned.

Cardinal Kevin Farrell, McCarrick's former roommate, is the Camerlengo, the title given to a cardinal who manages the papal treasury and serves as the pope's financial secretary. Bishop Brian Farrell, his brother, was head of another curial office. Nepotism.

Francis appointed Farrell as sole director of the Holy See's pension fund, covering the Roman curia and Vatican City former employees. More than a few news agencies have noticed that the fund is $90 million in the red.

Or, maybe he will be bailed out by globalists.

What is happening behind the scenes when junk art sells for outlandish prices?
  1. Acquisition: A criminal purchases high-value artwork using a third party or an anonymous shell company.
  2. Free port storage: The artwork is then stored in a free port.
  3. Layering through transactions: The artwork is sold multiple times, often without ever leaving the free port.

NPR CEO

Catherine Maher, CEO of National Public Radio (NPR), said, “Perhaps for our most tricky disagreements, seeking the truth and seeking to convince others of the truth might not be the right place to start. In fact, our reverence for the truth might be a distraction that’s getting in the way of finding common ground and getting things done.”

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) receives a congressional appropriation each year of about $500M. CPB allocates the appropriation mostly to public television and radio stations, with some assigned to NPR and PBS to support national programming.

Truth is now a distraction.

After receiving clarification from Rome, the FSSP will follow the 2024 Ordo for the Latin Mass. The Feast of the Immaculate Conception will be on Sunday, Dec. 8, not the 9th, for those attending the Latin Mass on the 8th.

You can come to Mass at St. Stephen the First Martyr, Sacramento, on Sunday and fulfill your obligation. Don't be afraid: use the little Red Book in the vestibule. Yeah, Mao issued his own Little Red Book, and it wasn't religious.

Britannia to ChatGPT

Britannia was the name of the Roman province that covered most of Great Britain. The Romans personified the province as Britannia, a helmeted female warrior holding a shield and trident. The image was first used in classical antiquity and was revived.

Fr. Giorgio Maria Faré

11/22/2024

The Discalced Carmelite priest in Italy says that Benedict XVI did not resign. He says, "I declare to renounce" is not the same as "I renounce". His comparison: if I say, "I declare to buy a car", that is not the same as saying, "I am purchasing a car". The former expresses an intention, not an act.

Those who oppose the priest and people like him are also Trump haters (incidentally). Father Faré has been dismissed from the Carmelites, and that's another cancellation. No one would risk his livelihood for a false claim, and all these cancellations are parboiled crucifixions.
