Father Daniel Nolan, FSSP, graduated with a BS in Systems Engineering and received a commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Marine Corps. After training as an infantry officer, he was stationed in Camp Lejeune, NC, and deployed to Okinawa, Cuba, Kuwait, Iraq, and the Republic of Georgia over the next three years. He separated from the military in August of 2006 as a captain, and, after a year of discernment and prayer, entered the seminary in the fall of 2007. Born June 10, 1976, he is the second oldest of thirteen children, four of whom were adopted. His brother is Fr. Justin Nolan, FSSP. I was informed that Father Daniel Nolan, FSSP, priest at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Littleton, CO, had his faculty of preaching from the pulpit suspended for three weeks. The sermon causing suspension was given at a 6:30am daily Latin Mass, Carmel of the Holy Spirit, Discalced Carmelite Nuns of Littleton, CO, an autonomous monastery. We think there was an outside mole. 2006: St. Stephen of Hungary, Allentown, PA, becomes the principal location for offering the Latin Mass, Divine Office, and sacraments. 2016: St. Stephen is placed under the care of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter. 2023, May: St. Stephen of Hungary Parish, Allentown, PA, is merged into Holy Ghost Parish, Bethlehem, PA. 2023, June: The merger takes effect and Fr. Gregory Pendergraft, FSSP, becomes the new pastor of Holy Ghost Parish. The other priests are Fr. David Lopez, FSSP, and Father Quinn Gomez, FSSP. Father Daniel Nolan, FSSP, is reassigned to the Allentown apostolate. Update 2/16/2025 Allegedly, Father Noland gave a sermon referencing the Denver archbishop's letter to the archdiocese regarding a Colorado ballot measure on abortion, read the letter, and said what he thought the letter should say, that is, "If you vote for this measure, you are in danger of losing your soul." Then he said, "He is going to Hell," and ripped up the letter, allegedly. Sermon 1/2/2022

Is it known now where he has been reassigned? I really love his talks and homilies on YT and I’d like to continue to follow his work. His farewell address in the parish bulletin didn’t mention where he would be going.

Yes. Me too was so saddened after knowing that Fr. Nolan left 2 Sundays ago from Our Lady of Mount Carmel. I am from Toronto and since March 2020 (when all Catholic Churches were closed) I’ve been following his sermon. To be honest due to his daily sermon about the saint I used this as my email address. He thought me to be strong in faith and accept the suffering as part of sharing with our Lord’s.

I met him at OLMC looking for a TLM when I lived there while taking care of my son after a motorcycle accident for 5 months. His homilies were incredible I was just back in November for mass with him and can’t believe he’s gone. What did he do? Reminds me of Fr Saguto also FSSP. Also on many! temp assignments. Our pastor at St Joseph in Rockdale is retiring this summer. Dear Jesus Send us Fr Nolan!

Annette: I confirmed with our pastor, Father Curtis, that Father Nolan is in Allentown, PA. Curtis and Nolan graduated from seminary the same year. Nolan uttered something while saying Mass at the Carmelite Monastery-Discalced Carmelite Nuns of Colorado in Littleton, and the bishop objected. So, Nolan was reassigned to a different parish. There is more interest in this blog post than any other, and I appreciate that very much. -Bob

Can someone explain what Fr Nolan said that offended the Bishop that resulted in him being reassigned?

He tore up the bishops letter during mass and said that the bishop was going to hell.

Judy: I believe so. My information is second-hand, except for where Fr. Nolan was reassigned, which came from FSSP North American HQ, and that is Holy Ghost in Bethlehem, PA. Bob 2/15/2025 07:48:14 pm

Hi Rene: The same thing happened to me. Fathers Curtis, McWhirter, Schwab, Braun, Eshiowu, and Franco have taught me so much through their sermons and in the confessional. Thank you for listing the names so that we can give them all credit for transforming our lives. Bob

Fr Nolan did NOT exactly said the bishop will go to hell. Specifically, after reading the bishop's letter (lengthy unnecessary paragraphs of why one should vote against the abortion amendment) he said bishops need to basically command the faithful to vote against it and IF the souls go to hell then the bishop will go with them. It's a conditional statement.

I too believe there is a mole. This is not the first time someone complained about Fr Nolan. I wouldn't be surprised if they were working with the FBI (under Biden) who claimed that traditionalists are domestic terrorists. They planted spies in FSSP and SSPX. It's in their report.

In the case of Fr. Nolan, I don’t believe there was an FBI informant or "mole" involved—just the usual workings of church hierarchy. Fr. Nolan wasn’t in his own parish; he was an assisting priest at the monastery, celebrating Mass. His handling of the letter and sermon (especially after presenting his own letter, which he claimed to be superior) caused quite a bit of scandal. This put the nuns’ access to the Latin Mass in jeopardy, particularly since these nuns fall under the diocese’s authority.

Thank you, Kevin, for your reply. I covered Fr. Jackson without giving details and removed my comments because a sentence had been issued and the matter resolved. The FSSP responded to my first inquiry about Fr. Nolan almost immediately. One of the things I avoid is sowing division among the TLM community. They are not perfect; neither am I, but finding the FSSP and SSPX changed my life significantly.

Mary, I agree, there had to have been a mole. Who goes to the 6:30 am Mass at the monastery otherwise?

Plenty of people attend the 6:30 AM Mass at the Carmelite Monastery, particularly since the exquisitely reverent renovation of the chapel, which is a relatively short distance from the parish. 3/3/2025 08:56:40 am
Thank you, Mary, for the clarification, and I'm sure everyone else who is following the blog appreciates knowing exactly what happened. -Bob

GJ, you make my point exactly. Faithful traditional Catholics attend the 6:30 am Mass. You'd be hard pressed to find any of those people against Father Nolan. Hence, a mole is quite probable.

My comment, which apparently has been misinterpreted, is rather simple. Although I have no indisputable proof, I would not be surprised that Condon/Flynn surrogate Kevin J. Jones - senior staff writer with Catholic News Agency - is likely responsible for or served as a conduit in reporting Father Nolan to Archbishop Aquila. Jones - who in the past claimed to be a parishioner at OLMC - was responsible for doing the same when Father Nolan made his comments about the covid scamdemic and the mask mandate back in September of 2020. His tweets are preserved for posterity at LifeSite news in an article titled "Priest banned from posting videos after Catholic News Agency report on his anti-mask comment" dated September 9, 2020. An extensive search of the CNA database indicates that Jones never composed an article vindicating Father Nolan or apologizing for referring to him as an "erratic personality". Perhaps he did so personally in the secrecy of the confessional. However, he should have also done so publicly.

GJ: My blog posts have been misinterpreted, too. An editor of my novel told me to give more explanation, and an Amazon reviewer said that I talked to him as if he were a child. Aiming for a middle ground, between people who are bright and people who are not, is hard, whatever we do. Thanks from us all. Bob

Hello all, for information Fr. Nolan ordination anniversary is this month of May. I think it was May 31st of that year. As I remembered when he was still at OLMC, Littleton, they had every May a spiritual bouquet offered for each priest’s anniversary. Please offer our prayers & sacrifices for his salvation & well-being.
