King Henry the Fifth National Portrait Gallery, London unknown artist Shakespeare primarily performed and staged his plays at the Globe Theatre in Southwark, London, built by his playing company, the Lord Chamberlain’s Men, in 1599. Before the Globe, his company played at The Theatre in Shoreditch, the Curtain Theatre, and at court for Queen Elizabeth I and King James I, whereby he chose by God's Grace to live and not forsake his head for the faith. Henry reigned as Catholic King of England from 1413 to 1422 and is justly remembered for victory at 1415 Agincourt. The Globe Agincourt (Azincourt)
It is in the Artois, top right, about 50 miles from the English College at Douay (Douai). There and at Rheims (Reims) the first English translations of the Bible were completed, the Douay-Rheims. (Names in parentheses are French.)
