What I'm going to say is controversial. The Knights of Columbus organization is limited to married men, which means that the vocation of single life is devalued in a roundabout way, and it populates the false Novus Ordo church. Their strange ceremonies and flamboyant dress give me the creeps. Insurance is a massive, manipulative industry, and while necessary in this mortal life, I find no use for any more of it.
Single life is what is, and consecration might be fine for some but not for me. I have functioned pretty well without it. My prayer life is not caught up in ceremony or anything fancy. Music and art, which I do not possess, except for one inherited painting, are as much a part of that life as going to church is. I'm not telling anyone how to live life; I'm just telling you I don't need to be taught how, in general. Someone said that it seems the only options are death by gimmicks or death by boredom. Reading good literature is countercultural.
