SSPX will consecrate bishops soon. Now, if only they would organize us into a geometrical/geophysical band. A single bishop cannot "take down" (checkmate) a lone king, as it is impossible to force checkmate with only a king and a bishop against a king. It is a forced draw in chess as a result of insufficient material. However, a bishop can check or attack a king, and can assist in a checkmate if other pieces (like a knight or pawn) are present. The word "pawn" has two main origins, both related to pledges and low status: from (1) Latin pignus (pledge) for pawn shops, meaning an item used as security for a loan, and from (2) Latin pedonem (foot soldier/pedestrian) for the chess piece, meaning a humble figure. In this case, the latter applies, and it applies to any temporal ruler (pope).
