I read the synopsis for Nocturne (1946) and realized my novel is similar. A police detective risks his career to pursue a murderer. So, I decided to watch the film noir. I love George Raft, all the dames are knockouts with motives, and you won’t know who the murderer is until the end. George’s Mom is a kick. ​No wonder that several readers of Pretty City Murder said it has a 1950’s feel. One explanation is that I had Raymond Chandler’s novel under my word doc. No, I didn’t copy anything, but he gave me some ideas. The House on Telegraph Hill handed me a plot trick, but I switched it. If my novel were made into a movie, I would ask that Chopin’s Nocturne Opus 32 No. 2 in A-flat Major be played. The Nocturne is in the Music category, 1/31/22.
