From a Nextdoor neighbor:
UPDATE** Last night around 8:30 PM [2-5-22], my sister and her friends (ages 12-13) were shot with gel bullet guns (not pellet guns my mistake!) while walking to the local Starbucks by Rocklin High School. These teenage boys drove up in two cars and started shooting at them and laughing. The police officials were called and are now aware of this situation. THIS IS NEVER OKAY. My sister and her friends are now terrified and have bruises from the pellets. This is not the first time this incident has occurred in this area. If anyone has information or knowledge of this situation, please let the police authorities know.
Another neighbor said, “What those kids used was a paintball gun; it uses compressed air in a tank and fires these .68 cal paintballs. They are very fast and hurt when you get hit, like getting snaps from a rubber band. They could put your eye out. I was hit by some last week while on my walk.”
Yet another neighbor said, “I just saw the news on TV. It’s part of a TikTok challenge. They are targeting pedestrians. This is unacceptable! I’m so sorry this happened to her.”
I suggested paintball games for a student of mine in Rocklin. I will let him know that safety and respect for the law are uppermost. I have advised all my students not to use TikTok.
