french revolution

From the website of Saint-Nicolas du Chardonnet: During the Revolution, the church was closed and, in 1795, rented to the citizen Pothain. That same year, Alexandre Lenoir transferred the works of art of Saint-Nicolas du Chardonnet to the Petits Augustins reserve, the furniture, altars, and woodwork were sold, and the high altar was broken. In 1799, the church was nearly demolished. Thanks to the rental lease, a reprieve was granted, thus making it possible to arrive at the Concordat of 1801, the date on which the building was returned to worship.

Mass at du Chardonnet

All the angels, who have a spirit but no body, enter when Mass begins, for the one and same Sacrifice. The first foreshadowing came a few thousand years ago when Abraham placed Isaac, his son, on the altar and was going to kill him. In the 16th century, the Catholic Church put an end to the sacrifice of children in the Aztec Empire.

In my parish we have just over 100 altar boys. We could not fit them all in at one time.

At about 46m an infraction occurs when one boy roughly moves another boy out of the way and takes his place. Ah … video proof. Two TV favorites are Body Cam and See No Evil. Gotcha!

Dextera domini means the right hand of God. Dextera gave us dextrous and ambidextrous.

For those who have never been, Mass is a little chaotic, but my attitude is, if the building fell down around us, in Paris or here in Sacramento, it would not matter. Mass would go on, everyone in right relationship. Latin is universal and the same, and howbeit our comprehension we all know where we are at all times. Tolkien refused to hear the vernacular.

If you are unfamiliar with bowing and genuflecting, they are the same thing as kissing someone on the cheeks.

Mary

The Marian doctrines protect her Son, but what about the woman herself?
Did Jesus cry and was He comforted? Did He have to learn all that a boy must learn? Was He ever bullied? Did He ever get sick? Did He ever fall down and get bruised? Did He ever feel lonely? Were there any emotions He never felt? Was He never disappointed? She knew Him better than anyone else.
