Pentecost Sunday

Today is Pentecost Sunday, or Ascension Day. Pentecost derives from the Greek word pentekostē, fiftieth. The Lesson is Acts 1, 1-11. The Gospel is Mark 16, 14-20.

The Problem
Concelebration turns a theological disagreement into a visible, public act. If the FSSP complies with concelebration requests, they will alienate some of their traditional base and drive them into the arms of the SSPX. If they refuse, they will provoke local bishops into stripping away their parishes.
