Pope doubles down on quashing old Latin Mass with new limits
By NICOLE WINFIELD December 18, 2021

“… the new document Saturday imposes restrictions targeting the sacramental life of the church.

“It forbids using the ancient ritual for the sacraments of Confirmation and ordaining new priests and will make it exceedingly difficult for traditionalists to access the sacraments of Baptism, Marriage, and Anointing of the Sick according to the old rite.

“This de facto prohibition arises because these sacraments can only be celebrated in so-called personal parishes that were already in existence and dedicated to traditionalist communities. There are exceedingly few of these parishes around the world, and Francis barred the creation of new ones.”

First, I do not agree with the reporter’s use of the word “traditionalist”. I am not a traditionalist. I am a Catholic, period.

Second, she is incorrectly referring to the 1962 Missal as “the old Latin Mass”.

Third, there might be few parishes in comparison to the total, but over 1 million have viewed the New Movie in multiple languages. Find it under the More tab.

Our parish is a personal parish already in existence. However, I and thousands of people are forced to make a decision now. My mind is made up. The SSPX is already in schism, and I would never go to a Mass celebrated by the SSPX. However, this Vatican decree is putting the FSSP in an impossible position. The FSSP has over 100 seminarians not yet ordained. We will support their ordination and hear their Masses. This Vatican decree breaks my prior position. Persecution is happening. Our priest said to pray for the enemy.

All of us sussed that this would happen. None of us wished for it. I will write more about this matter when I have time. The man I often sit next to at Mass was born in 1935 and served in law enforcement and the military. He has risen to a level of honesty and faithfulness to which I aspire. He will not abandon the FSSP, nor will any of the other 1,500 parishioners.

“Therefore judge not before the time, until the Lord come; Who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise from God.” Excerpt from today’s Epistle, 1 Cor 4, 1-5
