I agree that a pianist should not stray from exactly what is written, slower is better, and yet, philosophical and performance contradictions are fine, normal. Cole, the independent pianist, and romanticist like me, likes Richter, too. The Richter recordings he chose I do not like - too modern. I have never enjoyed classical music in a concert hall: the chairs are too confining, and adults get in the way.
