Mr. Coppola co-wrote the screenplay for The Godfather (1972) while living in San Francisco and sent parts of it as it was written to Mario Puzo, the novel’s author and co-writer for the movie. At the time, Puzo was living in New York City. Coppola’s film company was in the Sentinel Building, built 1906, above the bistro, Café Zoetrope, which is on the ground floor and was created for his office staff to have a place to eat.
I have driven by the building a million times cluelessly.
