Men, if you want to be a well-dressed guy, have a good pair of polished shoes. In the 1960 film, The Time Machine, creators used boiling, red-dyed oatmeal to simulate lava. Yet, your polished shoes will not help you if you walk into Hawaiian lava. Built by Wah Chang, the machine was destroyed in a fire at George Pal’s house in Bel-Air, CA, in 1961. Simon Wells, H.G. Wells’ great-grandson, remade the film in 2002.
