Anthony Holden, Tchaikovsky a Biography, 1995. The page opposite the title page indicates that Holden, an Englishman, has written six books and translated four: Aeschylus’ Agamemnon (1969), The Greek Anthology (contrib.) (1973), Greek Pastoral Poetry (1974), and Mozart’s Don Giovanni (1987).
An interesting tidbit of history is that in 1880 Tchaikovsky received a lavish timepiece from his patroness of 14 years, Nadezhda von Meck. He would’ve rather had the money. On one side was Apollo, the god who made mortals aware of their own guilt, and on the other side was guess who: Joan of Arc.
