The language of the song is elvish, originally developed by Tolkien, a daily communicant who preferred the Latin Mass. Lex Orandi, Lex Credendi, Lex Vivendi. As we Worship, So we Believe, So we Live.

The priest holds the host and chalice in a hand gesture of three fingers and the forefinger and thumb joined at the tips as one, indicating Three in One, Three Persons in One God. St. Agnes was found dead with the same hand gesture. These actions are the actions of Christ at the Last Supper.
I will remember Father Pierre Jacobs, SJ, my Geometry teacher, and white French cuffs under his black cassock. He frequently passed my desk and didn't hand out many A's.
Whenever the teachers' room door was opened, tobacco smoke billowed out. It was an all-male school.
The vice principal, Father Leo B. Hyde, SJ, had a one-inch-wide silver streak running through his thick black hair from the forehead to the back of his neck, making him look as if he were marked by God. I was scared to death of him. Twice he silently gave me a one-hour, after-school detention for being late. It never happened again, and I never missed a day in four years.
Detention consisted of staring at the blackboard and not uttering a word. When my brother was there, two years before, detention consisted of staring at a white dot on the blackboard. I think they put an end to that because a few boys might have fainted. It's something like Chinese water torture.
As a senior, I served Mass before school for Father John Enright, SJ, in the residence whenever he asked. Father was very kind. Maybe, sometime I will tell a funny story about him having to petition the Jesuit bursar for $10.
I loved school.
