A parent sent me this video of a self-driving car in San Francisco. The owner is Waymo, LLC, formerly known as the Google Self-Driving Car Project, an American autonomous driving technology company headquartered in Mountain View, CA. These cars are common in SF, and stop and hazard lights go on when an obstacle is encountered, and seem to have a problem near the street cars (MUNI light rail). I asked her if other drivers drive around them when that happens, and she said, "If there's room." The cars have limited human supervision. "This question was sparked recently when a Tesla Model S crashed into a parked fire truck in Los Angeles.[5] The driver claimed that the vehicle was in Autopilot mode at the time of the accident, and Tesla has since clarified that its Autopilot feature is not meant to be used without supervision. This incident highlights the need for more straightforward liability guidelines in autonomous vehicle accidents." https://www.thezebra.com/resources/car-insurance/self-driving-car-insurance/
