Statement from APD:
Subject: Child Molestation Arrest
Release By: Tucker Huey, Lieutenant

On June 5, 2022, the Auburn Police Department was notified of an extremely concerning incident involving an adult male and two children. Patrol Officers initiated an investigation and summoned the assistance of detectives. Through their investigation they were able to determine 65-year-old Keith Richard Jones invited the two children, a seven and a nine-year-old, into his home on the 100 block of Marvin Way. Jones reportedly exposed himself, showed the children sexually explicit images, and inappropriately touched one of the children. The children fled the residence and reported the occurrences to their parents.

On June 7, 2022, the Auburn Police Department obtained and executed a search warrant at Jones residence. Jones was arrested at his home and booked into the Placer County Jail for violation of 288a PC – Lewd or Lascivious Acts with a Child, 288.2 PC – Sending Harmful Material to Seduce a Minor, and 288.4(a)(1) PC – Arranging a Meeting with a Minor for Lewd Purposes. He is being held in lieu of $150,000 bail.

The Auburn Police Department recognizes protecting children as one of our most significant duties. We are committed to quickly and thoroughly investigating these matters and providing a safe community. Lieutenant Bryan Morrison stated, “I’m extremely proud of these children for coming forward with this incident. Their courage is helping us to ensure no one else will be victimized.”
