At age 18 Jesus permitted Joseph to die. Some say Joseph couldn't bear what was to come.
The painting is thought to be by F. S. Shuman, an artist from Alexandria, VA, and hangs in the Basilica of St. Mary, founded in 1795 and located in Alexandria. It was the first Catholic parish in the Commonwealth of Virginia and West Virginia, one state territory until 1863. President George Washington, father of the country, made the first contribution, equivalent to $1,200 today, for the creation of a Catholic parish.
This painting is magnificent for the way Jesus looks at Joseph.

I call this Southern romance, cuz Flannery says it is. What do you call it? I want to know. Mr. Shiftlet made the girl a married woman and left her innocent. Did he do right?
Word Daily says vulgate means means common or colloquial word. Flannery read the Vulgate. I guess that means the Vulgate Bible was written in common or colloquial words. I can't ask her cuz she's gone on to her reward for writing what is. Listen for Catholic symbols. Stanley is positively heroic. The main reason I posted his video is so that you can see the percentages, which indicate acceptance rates. The lower, the harder. His SAT was 1550, 800 on math and 750 on English. BTW Stanford is looking for a 1500 min, and still he got rejected. Amazing extracurriculars, and waitlisted or rejected by many, Superhero Stanley. Safeties are colleges that accept most applicants. One of my best friends in high school had a 1350 on the SAT and got into Yale. Today Asian boys and white boys face apartheid, and that's a fact. One of my boys is white and math inclined, the other Asian and English inclined, and I'm going to work my ass off ever harder. Promise.

Aria "Tossed by a treacherous wind" Tossed by the treacherous wind in its long flight, the wandering sad swallow goes weeping, unaware of good. But pushed by a fair breeze, suddenly forgetting such sorrow, in its delightfully tender nest. Before any translation I heard anguish. I had a dream in my teens.
It was a pleasant day. My family was aboard a Spanish galleon manned by sailors. Suddenly, a storm approached. The sky grew dark, and a whirlpool lay ahead. The ship was sucked into the melee. Death was certain. We were thrown out of the whirlpool at the other end. All the sailors were missing. Land was a short distance away. It was black, and the edge of the mountain running the length of the picture was backlit by bright light. The current took us to the land, and we disembarked. A steep, straight stone staircase guided us through a black forest on either side, not so dark that I could not see tree branches that would poke out an eye if it were not for the light over the mountain. The stones led us to the wooden staircase of a mansion, lit up inside and easily viewable with one side of the house removed. We ascended the stairs to the top and looked left, down a long, balustraded hallway with three closed doors on the right. I knew my mission was to reach the end of the hallway and the closed door that was there. I opened it. Inside was an endless chasm filled with fire, and on the opposite endless wall was Christ in fresco. I knew instantly that I had to jump across the chasm through the fire and cling to Him with my fingernails. I turned, and my family was gone. I walked to the first door and opened it, and therein were my two sisters and mother, one seated, the other two standing, crying. I asked, “What is the matter?” They said, “It’s impossible.” I said, “No, it isn’t. Follow me.” Out the door I went and back to the fire. I gathered every ounce of courage I had and prepared to jump. I looked back for the courage the women could give me. I looked at Christ. It ended. The practice of veiling changed my view. You only know only because I say so. My soul is invisible, revealed some in the blog, but, as Aquinas said about his eight million words, they are straw...to be looked at and burned. In this painting nothing is veiled, except its reality. Nicola Verlato, A Whiter Shade of Pale, 2012-13
From the curator Verlato’s work is video-game-meets-high-Baroque; he uses 3D animation technology to assist in the drawing preparation of his fantastical scenes that he paints in oils. Here we have the transformation of Michael Jackson. The little boy is trampled underfoot while three Michaels of varying ages struggle to reach for the pinnacle of Death. The forest animals look on in both amazement and disinterest. The gnarly twisting tree and swirl of bodies remind us of Bernini’s statues of Persephone or Apollo and Daphne, while the orange glow in the background suggests other worldly forces. What I see It's no accident that there is a double halo around the skull. It suggests two deaths: that of the soul and that of the body. https://narrativepainting.net/nicola-verlato-a-whiter-shade-of-pale-2012-13/ March 13, 2024

Father Matthieu Raffray, I.B.P., 45, see realist, was reported to the police for a homily given during Lent, and Aurore Bergé, 37, French politician who has been serving as Minister for Gender Equality and Fight against discriminations in the government of Prime Minister Gabriel Attal since January 2024, took action, saying Raffray's words were 'discrimination' and 'intolerable'. A Letter from Chile: Surviving the Post-Conciliar Wasteland (written by a 20-year-old) “The situation is similar in other countries in Latin America. For example it is no secret how the Mexican hierarchy is persecuting the FSSP which is trying to establish itself in Mexico.[5] In the Caribbean, Father Sixto Eduardo Varela Santamaría in Costa Rica was suspended and sent by his Bishop to a psychiatric hospital for moderately attempting the ‘Reform of the Reform’ in his Parish.[6] (Tradition is a mental disease for the hierarchy.) “And this inquisitorial persecution has just worsened after Traditionis Custodes, especially in Costa Rica were Traditionalists were 'mercied' to death by their Bishops. Nevertheless, in places like Mexico, Perú, and Argentina, the traditional faith lives on even without the Latin Mass—it is burned into the heart of every mestizo race by Our Lady of Guadalupe, Empress of the Americas.” … [2] Cardinal Francisco Javier Errázuriz Ossa was appointed by Pope Francis in 2013 to the Council of Cardinal Advisors. He was forced to resign in 2018 as he was being investigated for sexual abuse cover up. His successor as Archbishop of Santiago, Ricardo Ezzati Andrello (who was made a Cardinal by Pope Francis in 2014), was also involved and forced to resign, and Juan Barros Madrid who was made Bishop of Osorno by Pope Francis was also forced to resign for his direct involvement in sexual abuse. Trying to protect them, the Pope personally dismissed as false the accusations when he came to Chile. But when these accusations were sadly proven to be true, the extremely close collaboration of the Pope with these three Bishops harmed greatly the reputation of the Church. https://onepeterfive.com/a-letter-from-chile-surviving-the-post-conciliar-wasteland/ I am a man. I know it, but others have torn it down. 11 Who said to them: All men take not this word, but they to whom it is given. 12 For there are eunuchs, who were born so from their mother’s womb: and there are eunuchs, who were made so by men: and there are eunuchs, who have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven. He that can take, let him take it. 13 Then were little children presented to him, that he should impose hands upon them and pray. And the disciples rebuked them. 14 But Jesus said to them: Suffer the little children and forbid them not to come to me: for the kingdom of heaven is for such. 15 And when he had imposed hands upon them, he departed from thence. Hoover Institution's Scott Atlas, MD, deemed an outlier, a person differing from all other members of a particular group or set, by Deborah Birx, MD, Anthony Fauci, MD, Francis Collins, MD, and others, speaks about vaccines and masks. He says that elderly with six comorbidities or more were at risk. Now we know that the WHO, led by Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, falsified data.

Jonas Salk first tested his experimental killed-virus polio vaccine on himself and his family in 1953 and a year later on 1.6 million children in Canada, Finland, and the USA. The results were announced on April 12, 1955, and Salk's inactivated polio vaccine (IPV) was licensed on the same day. My family received the Sabin vaccine voluntarily in 1962 by letting a pink sugar cube dissolve in our mouths twice at a public high school in San Francisco. There were lists, but I do not recall penalties. Voluntariness is an American thing, or was. https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/polio-vaccine-trials-begin Adobe stock
The Latin Mass is literary. The other is not. While reading the Latin in the Roman Missal, I feel like I am thinking in the language of the apostles and having a conversation with them. You can get communion and confession but nothing else in the New Order. Even non-Catholics recognized that back in 1971 when they signed the letter that resulted in the Agatha Christie Indult. I do not believe that any Catholic could consider himself to be literary, musical, and artistic and attend such a thing, and God speaks in those three ways.

Latin Mass Catholicism can be just as stifling as the Rondo's. Thanks to mama and papa daddy I have used every one of Eudora's idioms. We played Casino and Old Maid. Normal is school. My nana went to San Francisco Normal, which later became SF State College, later SF State University, name changes signifying zip.
Whyyy Caaatholic? Someone asked. I said to Him, “Yes, I think I’d like some of that.” Do I accept submissions for the website? Yes, “Catholicism in Spain” was one such. If it is a written piece, I might edit, with your permission first. A submission can be a recording if Weebly, my provider, accepts the format, such as an MP4 or YouTube. A thumbnail is nice, too.
lyrics: [Intro] Do you ever see someone and think "Wow, God must hate me" 'Cause he spent so much time on them And for me, he got lazy? [Verse 1] Got ample mental illness, personality flaws While their only flaw seems to be that they have none at all [Refrain] Do you ever see someone and think "Wow, God must hate me"? [Chorus] I'll let Him take accountability For everything that's wrong with me Can't hold myself responsible So I blame the metaphysical If Jesus died for all our sins He left one behind, the body I'm in Same hands that made the moon and the stars Got carpal tunnel and forgot some parts I don't know what I believe But it's easier to think He made a mistake with me [Verse 2] Do you ever see someone and think, "Wow, they got lucky"? The craftsmanship of their bones, their brain, and their body When I look into the mirror for too long it hurts They don't track how many steps it takes to burn off dessert [Refrain] Do you ever see someone and think "Wow, they got lucky"? Brer is brother. Miss O'Connor referred to this cartoon.
Virtue signaling will carry more cachet than virtue itself. 4/1/2024, Barbara Toth, PhD, Rhetoric and Composition
I make this entry for Laura who commented on "Temple of the Holy Ghost." My siblings and I used to make fun of the southern accent, and now I love to listen to it. "Compassion is a word that sounds good in anybody's mouth," she says. The recording in her voice is from about 1960. "A Good Man is Hard to Find" she reads and is in the Reading List. I label short stories to guide readers, but I heard her clarification.
Well, it's time to pull out my research on the renaming of San Francisco public schools. I wasn't going to publish it, but after reading the analysis rates at UC Berkeley, I decided you need to know. These changes occurred over time. The San Francisco Board of Education failed at changing names at another 44 schools, including Lowell (poet James Russell), Washington, Lincoln, and Jefferson. Here is the list (white is shorthand for European descent):
Some of these schools are poor-performing institutions making claims about how 'nurturing' they are. If test scores are below average, a school is only 'nurturing' fleas.
"According to data from the University of California released on March 13, Mission High School had an acceptance rate of 43% at the flagship UC campus, the highest of any high school surveyed and almost three times the state average of 15%. …"
"Though Mission High has traditionally lagged in state standardized testing results, it surpassed a wide range of high schools throughout the state in the acceptance rankings, including private schools and San Francisco’s highly competitive Lowell High, which requires placement testing for enrollment. …" … Mission HS Percentile Score on Smarter Balanced 8.1% Lowell HS Percentile Score on Smarter Balanced 99.1% … "During the Racial Reckoning, the politicians on the UC Board of Regents over-rode the findings of the expert commission of the faculty senate and banned even the option submission of test scores by high school students applying to UC campuses." … "The UC system overall saw an increase in California students and groups that are 'historically underrepresented in higher education,' such as African American, Latinx, Native American and Pacific Islander students, UC officials said in a Jan. 25 news release." https://www.unz.com/isteve/how-to-get-into-uc-berkeley-go-to-a-bad-high-school/ The title of the statistical analysis is "How to Get Into UC Berkeley? Go to a Bad High School" What is going on? Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). This policy defeats merit-based education and everything I have done in my tutoring career, which is to improve test scores. I hope that another analysis is done to show the success/failure rate of the students receiving preferential treatment. Note #1: Latinx is a noun or adjective relating to people of Latin American origin and is used as a gender-neutral or nonbinary alternative to Latino or Latina. Using it slaps a disgusting label on young people. Frankly, using any of these labels divides people and is un-catholic. Note #2: Equity means equity of outcomes. What it really means is, if you get a C, you deserve an A because your racial background disadvantaged you in a 'white' society. This is an insult to 'nonwhites'. Miss O'Connor, the greatest writer in the genre called Southern Gothic I call Southern realism, and a very devout Catholic, never married, loved birds, and died at 39 from Lupus. Probably you will have to listen to the story twice.
"She argued that she wrote for an audience who, for all its Sunday piety, did not share her belief in the fall of humanity and its need for redemption. 'To the hard of hearing,' she explained, '[Christian writers] shout, and for the… almost-blind [they] draw large and startling figures'…". https://www.georgiaencyclopedia.org/articles/arts-culture/flannery-oconnor/ I cite the reference but don't bother reading it. P.S. I can't remember much beyond last week, but good memories and friendships never fade. Typical man. If I get to Heaven, I sure as hell want Him to kiss my soul, then put His arm around me when I get my body back. Never had doubts about the faith: it's as true as outer space is black.
