Biden grands

Repeating a statement from teacher Rebekah Peterson, Biden said, “Rebekah put a teacher’s creed into words when she said, ‘There is no such thing as someone else’s child.’ No such thing as someone else’s child. Our nation’s children are all our children,” he claimed.

Biden told his staffers’ children on “Take Our Kids to Work Day” that he is crazy about his six grandkids. He has seven. His son fathered a girl out-of-wedlock. Biden and his wife don’t know that a child who is born in or out of wedlock is their family. They think she is someone else’s.

State of the Union Address
President Barak Obama
January 13, 2016
…

Our troops are the finest fighting force in the history of the world. (Applause.) No nation attacks us directly, or our allies, because they know that’s the path to ruin. Surveys show our standing around the world is higher than when I was elected to this office, and when it comes to every important international issue, people of the world do not look to Beijing or Moscow to lead -- they call us. (Applause.)
…

That was then. What about now? How can one say that liberty is defended? Something else is going on. “…[Q]uasi líberi, et non quasi velámen habéntes malítiæ libertátem ….” “As free, and not as making liberty a cloak for malice ….” excerpt Epistle 1 Pet. 2.

Sir, with regard to America’s position in the world and defending freedom, your party wears a cloak for malice. Your party is far and away from pugilism for freedom’s sake, and malice takes the shape of censorship and de-platforming.

Math builds. One concept rests upon the previous.

Not so for grammar. Once you have learned grammar, and you can learn it in a year, there is nothing more. I lie. I look at my grammar book frequently, but that is different, for my mind is a sieve.

infinitive "to go"
I bade him go. (NOT I bade him to go.)
Pronounce bade as bad.

Tucker 57 million

“Both political parties and their donors have reached consensus on what benefits them, and they actively collude to shut down any conversation about it.

“The people in charge notice, that’s why they’re hysterical and aggressive. They’re afraid. They’ve given up persuasion; they’re resorting to force. When honest people say what’s true, calmly and without embarrassment, they become powerful.”

Tucker Carlson had 57 million views; 18% of the country watched. The settlement Fox News made with Dominion smells. Likewise, the Catholic Church ought never to have made settlements in any abuse cases. Go to court.

A New York Times columnist argued that President Biden’s declining health should not be a concern in his reelection bid. Well, well, well. Finally, they have admitted what has been denied for a long time.

According to a CBS poll, 72% of American voters believe that America is out of control.

So who is running the country? Not the 57 million, but a cabal of influence peddlers, greedy corporations, socialists, oligarchs, and snowflakes, persons with an inflated sense of uniqueness, an unwarranted sense of entitlement, easily offended, and unable to deal with opposing opinions.

“Nevertheless,” Thomas More shouts, and standing beside him Tucker Carlson roars, “We are more powerful.”

The Tomb

I have tried to understand the mind of my young student. We have come together once a week for more than two years, and still, I seem to be no farther along.

When I started listening to this story, and I listen to many, I discovered that this peculiarity is a man
’s recollection of events that began when he was 10.

You don’t know Alexander, but you might have read some of the 500 titles in his library. He is an only child, and the following story may unearth a portion of his boyish imagination.

Listen and envision what the historical tale says about a boy. Is he heedful or heedless? Could he be Alexander? And am I the servitor?

Montfort

4/28/2023

The little church in Roussay, France, was full of eager people. They had come to hear a great preacher, one who was famous for the fiery love which imbued his inspiring yet simply worded sermons.

At last, he entered the church: Fr. Louis de Montfort himself.

He approached the pulpit, led the faithful in prayer, and began preaching.

Suddenly, the church door burst open, and a drunk man stumbled inside. The man was angry. He staggered up the aisle, screaming slurred insults at Fr. Montfort.

The congregation froze, aghast. Everyone looked at the priest who stood silently in the pulpit, gazing at the man. What would he do?

Fr. Montfort left his place and came down the aisle to meet the drunk. And then, to the amazement of them all, he knelt in front of the man and humbly begged forgiveness. If there was anything he, Fr. Montfort, had done to offend or hurt the man, he asked most humbly for pardon.

The drunk man was as astonished as the congregation. He stared at Fr. Montfort for a moment—then turned and quietly left the church with a sorrowful expression.

Fr. Montfort rose, returned to the pulpit, and finished preaching his sermon—though he had already preached magnificently with his actions!

St. Louis de Montfort left lasting impressions on all he met, winning over even the most hardened sinners. He was successful because he always relied on the Rosary to help him.

Montfort, which means “mountain fort”, was born in 1673 and died in 1716, age 43.

anechoic chamber

Anechoic Chamber

Here is the etymology of an-
an- is a privative prefix, signifying absence from and comes from the Greek an-, meaning not or without, the Greek prefix being a fuller form of the one represented in English by a- or an-, which is a later form of the Latin ad meaning to, before -n-, as in annex, announce, annihilate

Echo you know.

Microsoft HQ

“The anechoic chamber in Building 87 was constructed with six layers of concrete and steel, which all rest on damping springs in the floor to eliminate nearby vibrations. Fiberglass wedges cover the walls and ceiling, designed so that sound waves get trapped in their purposeful geometry and dissipate.

“The result is a room that is -20.35 decibels. Yes, negative. Any sound pressure that dips below the threshold for human hearing is represented as negative decibels.

“For comparison, the sound of breathing has been measured at 10 decibels, while the sound of air molecules colliding in a gas or liquid (known as Brownian motion) is -23 decibels. At the other end of the extreme, a rock concert may be 110 decibels.

“In Microsoft’s chamber, the subtle sounds of the human body — breath, circulation, digestion, heartbeat, joint movement — become undeniably audible, and the rustle of clothes sounds like the roar of the ocean.

“In other words, inside this anechoic chamber, your body creates its own soundtrack.”

Fr. Altman

The red pill and blue pill represent a choice between the willingness to learn a potentially unsettling or life-changing truth by taking the red pill, or remaining in the contented experience of ordinary reality with the blue pill. The terms originate from the 1999 film The Matrix.

Do I care what people think of me? If people like me, I care what they think; if they don’t, I don’t care a tittle about what they think. Altman talks the way I do with men friends who know me well. My language decayed some on patrol dealing with street clutter.

prayer for Jews

4/28/2023

The Good Friday prayer for Jews is an annual prayer in the Catholic liturgy. It is one of several petitions known in the Catholic Church as the Solemn Intercessions for various classes and stations of peoples: for the Church; for the pope; for bishops, priests, and deacons; for the faithful; for catechumens; for other Christians; for the Jews; for others who do not believe in Christ; for those who do not believe in God; for those in public office; and for those in special need. These prayers are ancient, predating the eighth century at least, as they are found in the Gelasian Sacramentary.

Before 1955
Let us pray also for the faithless Jews: that Almighty God may remove the veil from their hearts; so that they too may acknowledge Jesus Christ our Lord. (‘Amen’ is not responded, nor is said ‘Let us pray’, or ‘Let us kneel, or ‘Arise’, but immediately is said:) Almighty and eternal God, who dost not exclude from thy mercy even Jewish faithlessness: hear our prayers, which we offer for the blindness of that people; that acknowledging the light of thy Truth, which is Christ, they may be delivered from their darkness. Through the same Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.

1955 Pius XII
Let us pray also for the faithless Jews: that almighty God may remove the veil from their hearts; so that they too may acknowledge Jesus Christ our Lord. Let us pray. Let us kneel. [pause for silent prayer] Arise. Almighty and eternal God, who dost not exclude from thy mercy even Jewish faithlessness: hear our prayers, which we offer for the blindness of that people; that acknowledging the light of thy Truth, which is Christ, they may be delivered from their darkness. Through the same our Lord Jesus Christ, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.

1959 John XXIII
Let us pray also for the Jews: that almighty God may remove the veil from their hearts; so that they too may acknowledge Jesus Christ our Lord. Let us pray. Let us kneel. Arise. Almighty and eternal God, who dost also not exclude from thy mercy the Jews: hear our prayers, which we offer for the blindness of that people; that acknowledging the light of thy Truth, which is Christ, they may be delivered from their darkness. Through the same our Lord Jesus Christ, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.

FULL STOP
Now come the accommodations.
Some call it ecumenism.

1970 New Mass Paul VI
Let us pray for the Jewish people, the first to hear the word of God, that they may continue to grow in the love of his name and in faithfulness to his covenant. (Prayer in silence. Then the priest says:) Almighty and eternal God, long ago you gave your promise to Abraham and his posterity. Listen to your Church as we pray that the people you first made your own may arrive at the fullness of redemption. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

2007 Benedict XVI
Let us also pray for the Jews: That our God and Lord may illuminate their hearts, that they acknowledge Jesus Christ is the Savior of all men. (Let us pray. Kneel. Rise.) Almighty and eternal God, who want that all men be saved and come to the recognition of the truth, propitiously grant that even as the fullness of the peoples enters Thy Church, all Israel be saved. Through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

There is a double standard cleverly worded.

I’m glad my parents died before the 2020 virus. Seeing either one in a mask would have killed me. My younger sister and I never wore a mask in each other’s presence. We were booted out of a Grass Valley, CA, store for not wearing one, and I said, “Okay. You don’t want our business.” The same was true for my students and me. We were unafraid of one another.

rape kit

4/27/2023

My website is for 16 and above.

“A doctor or nurse will conduct the four-to-six-hour examination and will preserve this evidence in a sexual assault evidence collection kit, commonly referred to as a rape kit. If a survivor chooses to report the rape to the police, the evidence in the rape kit can be one very powerful tool to bring a perpetrator to justice.”

https://www.endthebacklog.org/what-is-the-backlog/what-is-a-rape-kit-and-rape-kit-exam/

A sexual assault on children occurs in every religious body and in equal measure, not just the Catholic Church. Statistics prove it. Search the internet to find the findings. I’ve read them, but I’m not going to assist this time.

My experience..

A 16-year-old girl at school claimed to have been raped by a man who was not part of the school. The female resident director and I did the initial investigation. We called the SFPD, and they took over.

Talking her into getting a rape kit was difficult, but she consented after speaking with her mother. The SFPD transported the girl to SF General. The resident director and I met up with them there.

A female nurse practitioner conducted the interview in a closed room. Present: me, the resident director, a male police officer, and the girl’s female friend, also 16, a total of four females and two males. About halfway through the interview, the police officer left and posted himself outside the closed door. I stayed for the entire interview, which was professionally done.

Among other things, it was revealed that she had not taken a bath or shower. The resident director had persuaded her not to do so.

I left the room after about one hour, and the director stayed with her at the hospital the entire night.

Similar procedures would apply to boys who are targets, but I have no experience with them.

I bring this up because I view reports by broadcast journalists. Often, they forget to mention the rape kit. It’s all about who said what, who’s representing this or that person, what are the crowds saying, and what happened five years ago or 20 years ago. Very titillating.

Initially and for much of the duration, doctors, nurses, paramedics, and police officers are the competent people, not journalists, not the public.

Ruger .22

The Ruger

While walking along the edge of a pond just outside my house in the Villages and discussing a property settlement with my soon-to-be ex-husband, and other divorce issues, we were surprised by a twelve-foot-long alligator that suddenly emerged from the murky water.

It began charging us with its large jaws wide open. She must have been protecting her nest because she was extremely aggressive. If I had not had my little Ruger .22 pistol with me, I would not be here today.

Just one shot to my estranged husband’s kneecap was all it took. The gator got him easily, and I was able to escape by walking away at a brisk pace. The amount I saved in lawyer’s fees was incredible, and the life insurance was a big bonus!

Observing people at the supermarket, on the street, or at Mass and roughly 50 relevant emails per day lead to searching, scanning, thinking, and writing. Tutoring and listening to people help. Each blog post is edited about 10 times.

The release of anger, most of the time, is one benefit. Many of the great writers and thinkers are on my side, and they are allowed to speak in my place.

I imagine something similar is what keeps other fools fuh-functioning.

Nancy Pelosi’s $200 million gift to the Presidio Trust

[The story is about taxpayer money given to the national park in San Francisco.]

“These days, exclusivity seems to be the Presidio’s draw. When the heiress Ivy Getty married recently, Pelosi officiated her wedding at city hall. Afterwards, reported The Daily Mail, guests who partied too hard had a log cabin available to them at the Presidio National Park, for IV drips.”

The quote is the last paragraph in a story written by Monica Chen for The Spring Magazine and published on December 2, 2021.

It always has been and always will be so to the end of time, that where there is a “go-a-way” or “break-up” there is sure to be close by a “crib” for the “grafters” to “namasi” into when there is a “tumble” to “square” themselves and double bank the fly “cops.” — The National Police Gazette (New York, NY), 24 Jun. 1871   Merriam-Webster

Unrelated but hysterical, her campaign was forced to pay $7,500 for 21 robocalls.

Justice or fury? In the good Catholic’s face, there is no fury or fear. Married at 14 and guillotined at 37, she had four children: Marie-Thérèse, Louis Joseph, Louis XVII, and Sophie.

In 1984, 100 were beatified, not Marie, not Louis XVI. He received last rites, but, separately, Marie refused. The priest sent to her while she was in prison was a juror. He had sworn an oath to the revolution.

Would you have done the same as Marie? For a serious Catholic, this is a serious decision, one she did not know would be her last.

What languages did Jesus speak? We know He spoke Hebrew because He taught the Pharisees in the Temple at age 12. Aramaic was a local dialect, and He spoke that. Greek, the language of commerce and the dominant tongue after Alexander the Great conquered the entire area, Jesus spoke.

What languages did Pontius Pilate speak? He was born in Abruzzo. His native tongue and main language was Latin, dominant in the Western Roman Empire. Could he speak Greek? Yes, but Jesus would have spoken to him in Latin, the language Pilate was most comfortable speaking.

From Jimmy Akin –

My academic training is in philosophy, which intersects to a considerable degree with the work I do. I am also an autodidact [self-taught] who has managed to acquire a background in apologetics, biblical studies, theology, liturgy, canon law, and related disciplines.

Because I have learned this material on my own, I do not have an institution such as the Church or a university that has put its seal of approval on me (in areas other than philosophy) and said, “Listen to this guy; he knows what he’s talking about.”

In the absence of such a seal of approval, the only defense there is for my answers is making sure that they are right. I can’t rely for my credibility on the fact that someone else has vouched for me.

Since the 2020 virus, I have been in the process of teaching myself.
