One time, when I waited in the Chinese consulate in Vienna (I had to manage some visa affairs), I read a really strange article in a Chinese magazine, because this mag, of course in line with the CCP, demonstrated a great affection for Catholicism, it wrote very friendly about a French missionary, who came via French Indochina and Yunnan to Tibet, bought land and gave it to the village's poor and survived a murder attempt by Buddhist lamas. A catholic family was also portraited that had a house shrine with pictures of the Sacred Heart on one and of Chairman Mao on the other side... Leave a Reply. |
