I give you one good example: Neil Gerard McCluskey, SJ. He was one of the principal authors of the Land O’Lakes Statement, which divorced Catholic higher education in the United States from supervision by the hierarchy. He stayed until 1975, left, and got married. Yeah, good job, McCluskey. Destroy, then leave us behind. He died in 2008. Cogitate.
