“I want pizza, you want pizza, we all want pizza.” Example of epiphora. Epiphora is the opposite of anaphora, which is the repetition of the beginning part of a sentence, in Sonnet 66, the word, “And”. Epiphora is repetition at the end of phrases or clauses, as in the phrase, “want pizza”. Shakespeare, the recusant bard, is the world’s most influential poet and dramatist (1564-1616). He is one reason I tutor the classics, and he is one reason I read unfiltered history, and he is one reason I adhere to tradition … and rhetorical devices! His wife: Anne Hath-a-way. This week, Alexander and I will study these devices and others. I like nerds.
