Twitter and Facebook are filled with bots. What are they?

Gillis, Technical Writer and Editor, from techtarget.com explain: “A bot -- short for robot and also called an internet bot -- is a computer program that operates as an agent for a user or other program or to simulate a human activity. It is designed to make money for the owner simply by redirecting traffic from YouTube to a website with whom the owner has a relationship. Bots spread affiliate links and that is why, when anybody clicks on the link and performs the desired action, the bot’s creator gets a commission.
