The science fiction novel is 311 pages, approx. 63,500 words (to give some context, Pretty City Murder is 342 pages, approx. 87,500 words), and the following is a one-hour, recorded radio drama, narrated by Mr. Huxley. The music is composed by Bernard Herrmann, and various actors participated. The novel was published in 1932 but is brilliantly and boldly ahead of its time. Huxley (1894-1963) graduated from the same college as Hopkins, SJ, (1844-1889), Huxley in English Literature, Hopkins in Classics (Latin and Greek).

I was always thinking that our world would more become "Huxleyesk" than "Orwellian", with drugs, shale pleasures, etc. But now, with high inflation, economic crisises, sophisticated surveillance techniques, it has also got a stark tendency to Orwell's dystopia...

Why am I surprised by how well-read you are? I have read almost nothing by German authors. My education has extended beyond the borders of the USA and England only through Latin.
