The only Catholic to sign the American Declaration of Independence, Charles Carroll was born on September 19, 1737, at Annapolis, MD, and beginning at age eight, received his education in France.
He started at the Jesuits’ College at St. Omer and Lycée Louis-le-Grand College, (French secondary school, known as sixth form college).
He continued practical studies in Paris, Bourges, and London and returned home in 1765, age 28, living longer than any other signer, dying in 1832, age 95.
