The right of free speech for children is very limited. They are subject to rules set down by their parents at home and for everywhere. Therefore, K-12 school libraries and the children’s section of public libraries may not have obscene books. Adults 18 and above can vote, and they have the right of free speech under the 1st Amendment.
If my parents said there would be no swearing in the house, which they did, that applied there and everywhere else. In my four years of high school, I never heard a swear word in the classroom. I never saw a dirty picture until I was 20. Well, there was one exception, but I won’t go into that, because it was dumb. I am not a veteran of the American War of Independence. The rules that applied then still apply today.
