Catholic congressional representative from New Jersey Chris Smith, 70, wrote a bill titled Stop Forced Organ Harvesting Act of 2023, sanctioning China for its forced organ harvesting practice. The bill goes to the floor. Smith held a hearing last year in which experts explained that political prisoners, particularly Muslims in concentration camps, have been killed so their organs can be sold on the black market. Estimates are 60,000 to 100,000 harvesting deaths every year.
