Dextera domini is Latin for “the right hand of the Lord,” and from the Latin word, dextera, we get dexterous, meaning “having special skill, especially with the hands.” A longstanding way of symbolizing God the Father in Creation, Baptism, and Annunciation art was by a hand appearing in the sky.
