I note a person’s pedigree for informational purposes only. A PhD means nothing to me until I hear what he says and how he says it.
I met a Jesuit PhD in college as a student and then as an employee. He was an almighty jerk, and his acquaintance was left behind when I vacated the halls of black ivy. An honorary degree? It is less valuable than cave dung and ought to be refused. The blue-collar guys I worked with for three summers in college treated me with respect and interest. They had more practical wisdom than any PhD.
