Extremely beautiful music!
(We often sing the "tantum ergo" to Haydn's "Kaiserquartett", also known as "Austrian tune", the words fit perfectly into it. Also very beautiful is the TE of Kronsteiner, unfortunately almost never performed (the best things, even in the records of the mainstream church, are mostly neglected).
By the way, also "Rock of Ages" was inspired by a Spanish TE, and if You shorten the text a bit, the German version fits into the melody.
Once it was announced that a cellist would perform a TE by the composer Hellmesberger, who normally wrote waltzes etc., in Vienna's Peterskirche. This fascinated me and I made a lot of arrangements to be there, but then the priests in charge messed all up, the performance took place indeed in this church, but no one would tell me where exactly, so I missed this holy curiosity.
Since that moment, Opus Dei, which is in charge of Peterskirche, lost its good reputation in my mind...
Joe: I hear Opus Dei is having problems. You and I have to gingerly step around the debris. Bobby
