The dialog of the 2004 film, The Passion of the Christ, is in Hebrew, Latin, and reconstructed Aramaic, with subtitles. Christ speaks to His apostles in Aramaic, which is heard in the clip, and to Pontius Pilate in Latin. Memorizing the dialog must have been a challenge for the actors.
I have written previously about Father Joseph Devlin, SJ, and Father William Ryan, SJ. Joe served in Vietnam from 1970 to 1974, and Bill served in China in 1951. Joe escaped from Vietnam on the last day, and Bill survived solitary confinement and torture. Joe’s brother, Father Raymond Devlin, SJ, baptized my family, and Bill taught at my high school. I can’t be the only one who watches present media and is disgusted with critical race theory, gender theory, pharmaceutical wealth, and persecution, including not being allowed to say God - see Suicide post, government mandates, and church burnings. Insurrection? Rather, keep close to the heart what others suffered.
