Is the Douay-Rheims Bible a Catholic imitation of the KJV Bible?

“No, for the simple reason that it came before the King James Version.

“However, the revision of the Douay-Rheims Bible that was prepared by Bishop Challoner was certainly influenced by the KJV, which is not altogether surprising when one recalls that Challoner was raised Presbyterian and later converted.

“Naturally, the translation he was familiar with would influence his revision.”

The New Testament translation from the Vulgate was completed in 1582, and the Old Testament was completed in 1609/1610. Challoner’s revision appeared over the years 1749-1752.
