Exemplar of education UK. Teaching is focused on seven key subject areas: Catechism, English, Mathematics, Music, Science, Latin, and French. The Saint Benedict Academy is an Education Centre, not a school, providing an integrated program of lessons in key subject areas, while the rest of the teaching is given at home. I would add Greek, German, art, and history. The center prepares students for the General Certificate of Secondary Education Advanced Level (GCE A Level) leading students to direct university entry. To obtain qualification, students undertake a 2-year course normally starting at age 16.

Students carefully read straight from the greatest works of Western civilization, the texts that have shaped how we view the world today: Aristotle, Dante, St. Thomas Aquinas, Isaac Newton, John Locke, Jane Austen, Albert Einstein, among many others. “Rather than the ordinary approach of isolating technical knowledge into specialties, Thomas Aquinas College unifies the principal arts and sciences — philosophy, theology, mathematics, the natural sciences, history, literature, and music — into a single, integrated curriculum, culminating in a Bachelor of Arts degree in liberal arts.” Note: other schools are safe for STEM, but Aquinas is the only safe school for Liberal Arts, free of indoctrination and hatred.

Greenland, the world’s biggest island, is a self-governing country within the Kingdom of Denmark. Thule Air Base, part of NORAD (headquarters in Alaska), is a Canadian and American joint command to deter, deny, and defeat aerospace threats. “Located more than 1100 km north of the Arctic Circle and about 1500 km south of the North Pole [1500 km is 932 miles, roughly the flying distance from San Francisco to Denver], Thule Air Base is the northernmost military base of the United States of America...the base is placed into a piece of paradise on Earth. The area is the only place on Earth where three glaciers get together, not to mention impressive sightseeing with icebergs and polar animals....” https://militarybases.com/overseas/greenland/thule/
Today, Jacob Abel (23) made his Confirmation at St. Stephen the First Martyr, Sacramento, CA. Father Stephen Braun, FSSP, confirmed Jacob, heard his first Confession, and gave him his First Holy Communion. I was very honored to be his Confirmation sponsor. The pictures are (1) Jacob, (2) Jacob and Antonio, who is 17 and stood with us as Jacob was confirmed, and (3) Father Braun, Jacob, and me. Mike Solton served the private Mass for Jacob, Antonio, me, and Kiana and Giovanna, Jacob’s friends.
I dreamed the end of the world this morning. It was very terrifying. Alone and floating, I saw narrow, vertical lines of every color in front of me, perhaps a view of the world squished together into lines. There was a loud rushing sound, and I felt it, but no voices or cries. I knew the end was coming and said, "Save me, God.” Well, it happened again. Today, I was schooled by Alexander, who is eight. He told me that Aristotle (384BC-322) tutored Alexander the Great (356BC-322) when Alexander was 13. Aristotle taught Alexander and his friends about medicine, philosophy, morals, religion, logic, and art. Under his tutelage, Alexander developed a passion for the works of Homer. Aristotle gave him an annotated copy of Homer, which Alexander later carried on his military campaigns. Aristotle sounds like the perfect tutor, and my Alexander is the perfect student. It was shortly after Plato died that Aristotle left Athens at the request of Philip II of Macedonia to tutor his son in 343BC. He succeeded his father to the throne in 336BC at age 20. By age 30 he had created one of the largest empires in history, from Greece to India. He was undefeated in battle and is widely considered to be one of history’s greatest and most successful military commanders. Strange that Aristotle taught Alexander religion, but in modern America we should have to exclude religion from the curriculum of any school. Together for one and a half years, we did Lesson 67 today. S&P Dow Jones Indices removed Tesla from its Indices because, as stated, Tesla’s score on environmental, social, and governance standards (ESG) has remained “fairly stable” over the past year, but it has slipped down the ranks against improving global peers. Can you believe it? Said Musk on May 18, 2022, “ESG is a scam. It has been weaponized by phony social justice warriors.”
According to Parler, to reach a younger audience, Democrat members of congress are posting on the Chinese social media platform, TikTok. While some acknowledged privacy concerns, most felt the need to use the increasingly popular site. None of my current students use the communist platform, which steals and indoctrinates. According to Parler, Stuart Reges alleges that he faced retaliation after including in his syllabus a land acknowledgement that did not recognize American Indian tribes as the rightful owners of the University of Washington land. All but two of my ancestors hail from Celtic lands, but the connection is very, very distant in time. We are Americans. I speak for myself now in saying that American Indians are not the only natives.
The word “invention” derives from the Latin inventiō, first person singular of invenīre, a combination of the preposition in and the verb venire, meaning “to come in” or “to come upon”. Today we celebrate St. Stephen the First Martyr, the saint for whom my parish church is named. The Roman Missal, p 1139: quia ejus Inventiónem celebrámus, “for we celebrate the finding of him”. This is part of living tradition. Now, how his bones were invented... 1) Gamaliel the Elder, Hebrew רַבַּן גַּמְלִיאֵל הַזָּקֵן, leading authority in the Sanhedrin, advises against killing the apostles, which is accepted, educated guess is he dies in AD52, saint

Pope St. Agatho, r. 678-681, spoke out against making changes to the sacramental rites of the Church: “Nothing of the things appointed ought to be diminished; nothing changed; nothing added; but they must be preserved both as regards expression and meaning.” Epistle to the Emperor, apud Labb., ed. Mansi, vol. 2., p 235. 1570 The Council of Trent declared infallible what Agatho said. 1795 On August 28, 1795, Pope Pius VI, r. 1775-1799, issued a papal bull, Auctorem fidei, a condemnation of the Synod of Pistoia (1786), which he deemed heretical. In this way, he condemned the New Mass 175 years before it came to be. He lived through the French Revolution. For backup, see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PaKKKXG4Je4. Funniest film I ever saw is Employees' Entrance, starring Warren William, who runs his successful department store as absolute dictator, but the film is for men only, unless you are both a lady and a male chauvinist pig, like my mother was. rating: five stars Literary tension - big little scene - 4 stars. What do you do? You can opt for Medicare Part G. Part G. This gives you a Gun and one bullet and the right to shoot one worthless politician of either side. This means you will be sent to prison for the rest of your life. You will receive three meals a day, a roof over your head, central heating and air conditioning, cable TV, a library, and all the health care you need. Need new teeth? No problem. Need glasses? That’s great. Need a hearing aid, new hip, knees, kidney, lungs, sex change, or heart? They are all covered! As a bonus, your children can come and visit you at least as often as they do now. Best of all, because you are a prisoner, you don’t have to pay taxes. The Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest (ICKSP) caved to Crumb Cupich who closed their Chicago church for saying the Latin Mass. Facebook: Timothy J. Williams - “My youngest son has a vocation. Why would I want him to associate with the ICKSP? So he can meekly submit to persecution out of a false understanding of obedience, and learn to abandon the faithful to themselves? No thank you. I hope to direct him toward the SSPX.” The SSPX is the Society of St. Pius X. One person on Facebook asked the ICKSP to move to Florida, and another to Virginia. Facebook said, “Most Relevant selected, so some comments may have been filtered out.” Filtering by Facebook, and Crushing by Cupich. I am not on Facebook, but that doesn’t mean I can’t see.
I see not with mine eyes Thy wounds, as Thomas saw, Yet own Thee for my God with equal love and awe; Oh, grant me, that my faith may ever firmer be, That all my hope and love may repose in Thee. Annus Sanctus, Roman Missal p 1816 A story about Poe's relationship with the Jesuits at Fordham, published in 2017, touches his loneliness. Many modern interpreters of Poe tend toward the macabre. They do not know his tender sensitivities. https://aleteia.org/2017/07/28/edgar-allan-poes-unknown-friendship-with-the-jesuits/ How do I quickly convert eight-fifths into a decimal?
8/5 = 1 + 3/5 1 + 3/5 = 1 + 6/10 6/10 = .6 add .6 back to 1 8/5 = 1.6 3 Not all numbers ending with nine are divisible by three such that the quotient (result) is a whole number. Two-digit numbers ending with nine and not divisible by three are 19, 29, 49, 59, 79, 89, and so on, and three-digit numbers not divisible by three are 109, 199, and so on. However, if the sum of all the digits in the number is divisible by three, the number is divisible by three. For example, if the number is 657, the number is divisible by three: 6 + 5 + 7 = 18, which is divisible by three. Three makes me think, Trinity. Update: Alexander (8) learned this math fact today, 8/4/2022. Associated Press, censorship, language, Orwellian, style guide
by Zach Freeman, August 1, 2022 “The Press Changes its Stylebook to Promote LGBT Definition of Sex/Gender.” Good luck, ladies and gentlemen of the press. I will not apply these changes to my lesson plans, and I will continue using my 1996 The Associated Press Stylebook and Libel Manual. “But if thought corrupts language, language can also corrupt thought,” writes George Orwell, in 1984. This kind of stuff will force journalists and writers into other options. A little advice received from a retired cop: “Respect the younger generation and their opinions. They may not have the same ideas as you, but they are the future and will take the world in their direction. Give advice, not criticism, and try to remind them that yesterday’s wisdom still applies today.”
From Wikipedia –
“The oldest and longest running of the United States’ deliberately ambiguous policies was whether and how it would defend the Republic of China on Taiwan in the event of an attack by the People’s Republic of China (Mainland China). This issue is at the cornerstone of United States–Taiwan relations and a central sticking point in United States–China relations. This policy was intended to discourage both a unilateral declaration of independence by ROC leaders and an invasion of Taiwan by the PRC. “The United States seemingly abandoned strategic ambiguity in 2001 after then-President George W. Bush stated that he would ‘do whatever it takes’ to defend Taiwan. He later used more ambiguous language, stating in 2003 that, ‘The United States policy is one China.’ "In October 2021, President Biden announced a commitment that the United States would defend Taiwan if attacked by the People's Republic of China. But then the White House quickly clarified: ‘The president was not announcing any change in our policy and there is no change in our policy.’ In May 2022 Biden again stated that the U.S. would intervene military if China invaded Taiwan, though a White House official again stated that the statement did not indicate a policy shift.” Okay. As much as I dislike labels, I agree to accept this one - restorationist - year 2022. It was inevitable. My worldview began forming at age 17, so this was inevitable. Priez pour nous. Pray for us. For anyone who wants to view, here is a High Mass from 1940, narrated and explained by Fulton Sheen, with large choir and full orchestra. The film is unbelievably fine, with artwork, music, captions, and step-by-step explanation. Two of the priests are biological brothers.
Prior to all the changes, it was common for families to produce several sons and daughters who entered the priesthood and/or religious life. Families of up to nine children are common at St. Stephen, which is very promising. I had the Latin Mass from my baptism in 1961, age 8, through 1967. We had our Latin/English Missal then with many beautiful, color pictures. I was young, so when boredom struck, the pictures were great. I don’t know where mine went. A new one was bought in 2020. www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqkqc2-iteQ fssp.com/confraternity-of-saint-peter, info@fssp.com
The Confraternity is a lay group within the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter. Update: I fixed the link to the film, Mass of the Ages. It is under the More Tab, New Movie. Parts 1 and 2 can now be viewed. The movie must be seen. Whole sections of the Mass were expunged, which then admitted the butchered language of the new Mass. The expungements are shown at 41 & 55 minutes of Part 2. Think of percent as per one hundred.
How to convert a mixed number to a percent? A mixed number is a whole number and a proper fraction: 3 ½ The mixed number 3 ½ represents 300% and 50%. Example: An agricultural process showed an improvement of 350%. If the improvement were only 50%, there is no mixed number, because there is only a fraction, ½. So, it is possible to convert a mixed number to a percent only if the number is more than 100%, as in 350%. Also, if one wants a decimal, divide by 100, which converts the % to a decimal. 350/100 = 3.50 Deena talks about wanting everything we had before 1960 (see How Many post). Desiring the Latin Mass is not desiring a return to the past. The Latin Mass is eternal, outside of time. Deanna stars in Christmas Holiday from 1944. In the Solemn High Mass scene are snippets from a real Midnight Mass celebrated at the former Cathedral of Saint Vibiana of Los Angeles. Durbin was a good singer. Andrew (14) was doing additional training before Mass yesterday. At a High Mass, there are levels of increasing responsibility. Here is a short list from the top down: Master of Ceremonies, Crucifer (Head Server), Acolyte 1-Book Bearer, Acolyte 2-Bells, Thurifer and Boat Bearer. Altar boys are ages 7 - 18.
We had a visitor, Father Zachary Akers, FSSP, also a good singer, Director of Development, Clarks Summit, PA. Domine, non sum dignus ut intres sub tectum meus... Lord, I am not worthy that Thou shouldst enter under my roof... Tectum in Latin means roof. The word “protect” came into English by way of the Latin verb protegere, a combination of pro, meaning “in front”, and tegere, meaning “to cover”. When you protect something, in a way you’re covering it or shielding it from harm. Hence, tectum, roof.
Edward Elgar (1857-1934) was an English composer. He composed the Lux aeterna I posted under Stephen.
According to Wikipedia – “He felt himself to be an outsider, not only musically, but socially. In musical circles dominated by academics, he was a self-taught composer; in Protestant Britain, his Roman Catholicism was regarded with suspicion in some quarters; and in the class-conscious society of Victorian and Edwardian Britain, he was acutely sensitive about his humble origins even after he achieved recognition.” … “His father, William Henry Elgar (1821–1906), was raised in Dover and had been apprenticed to a London music publisher. In 1841 William moved to Worcester, where he worked as a piano tuner and set up a shop selling sheet music and musical instruments. In 1848 he married Ann Greening (1822–1902), daughter of a farm worker. Edward was the fourth of their seven children. Ann Elgar had converted to Roman Catholicism shortly before Edward’s birth, and he was baptized and brought up as a Roman Catholic, to the disapproval of his father….” |
